Stream of Consciousness
I once read somewhere about keeping a journal on a daily basis that is just a stream of consciousness and calling it your daily pages. I am a HUGE proponent of journaling and always have been. I’m not one to worry about who ends up seeing what I write and thought maybe give this a go on here and see what happens. Everyone talks about authenticity these days and I thought this would be a great way to get out what I’m all about.
I’m in the throws of training for my very first IRONMAN and it is the first summer I have been home in the last 5 years. Typically I’m guiding adventure travel trips all over the world but this year I took a little sebatical to train for this race. It’s a bit of an adjustment but in very good ways. I get to see my kids and loved ones more which is wonderful. I am revisiting old trails I use to guide on which brings an interesting perspective. Some things are the same and some things will never be the same. You think about where you were in life when you were in these places years ago and where you are now in life.
There’s something so exciting about change and at the same time so scary. I once taught a yoga class where the overall theme was finding comfort in times of discomfort. That’s the real challenge isn’t it? As the summer slowly ticks away and we inch closer to the month of August, I am realizing the concept of time and time passing become more and more peculiar. I love having adult kids and they are so amazing but at the same time I look back nostalgically at the days when they were little. I don’t necessarily want to go back I just appreciate those times with a lot of love in my heart for the opportunity I have had to be a mom. I know I made mistakes, a lot of them, but no matter what it is I take on as the next chapter there’s really no owner’s manual. I get to write it as I go, the ups, the downs, mistakes, all of it.
So here I am inviting you to join me for the ride!
